TRAINING MANUAL FOR MEDIA ON PREVENTING AND COUNTERING VIOLENT EXTREMISM IN KENYA
Why the manual?
This manual is intended to provide a collection of instructions ready to be used by trainers. The compendia of information in this manual includes Preventing and Countering Violent Extremism (PCVE) facilitation techniques, how to identify radicalized individuals and how to DE radicalize them, PCVE massaging strategies, narratives, counter narratives, and identification and explaining ethics and responsible journalism.
How to Use the Training Manual
The manual can be used wholesomely, or each module can be facilitated independently without relying on the rest of the session topics. However, Module ONE, “An Overview of the manual”, is compulsory as it stipulates the desired skills relevant to facilitating the sessions. Although the trainers and facilitators will be expected to adapt the content and timing for delivering each module, they will be at liberty to adjust depending on the needs of the group and also use more supplement any materials.
