TANA RIVER COUNTY ACTION PLAN TO PREVENT AND COUNTER VIOLENT EXTREMISM

TANA RIVER COUNTY ACTION PLAN TO PREVENT AND COUNTER VIOLENT EXTREMISM

Acknowledgment

The development of this action plan is the result of several months of constant dialogues and consultations between state and non-state actors within the Tana River County. This entailed data collection from various sources within the county through field research and discussions that have included the National and County Government officials. The National Government was represented by the County and Subcounty’s security teams led by the County Commissioner and officers from the NCTC.

We do also recognize the Tana River county government for offering its fundamental support to this action plan as an important tool that will also work to improve and enhance the economy of the County as a means of reducing the allure of monetary gains within violent extremism. This team was well represented by the speaker of the County Assembly and Hon. Justin Nkaduda and Members of the County Assembly who were extremely vocal about favorable solutions that can be employed to address violent extremism. We also appreciate the efforts of the Galole, Bura and Garsen Members of Parliament who demonstrated support to the process.

Through the efforts of Colonel Benson Ngeiwa, Njenga Miiri and Mr. Gerald Mong’are, the National Counter Terrorism Centre have continuously provided technical expertise to the process. They are specifically lauded for availability and advice in improving parts of the action plan document.
Equally, we recognize the role played by Act Change Transform (Act!) for also providing their expertise in the process. Specifically, we acknowledge the role played by Mr. Dominic Pkalya, Racheal Nzingo, and Florence Osoo for their technical inputs.
