BACKGROUND

Kenya Community Support Centre (KECOSCE) is a Kenyan National NGO active in the Coast, Northern Kenya and Nairobi regions of Kenya. KECOSCE has its main offices in Mombasa.  KECOSCE works with grassroots communities and at county/national level to facilitate a just, secure and progressive society.  This is achieved through our strategic pillars including strengthening Democracy, Good governance and Human Rights, Supporting Sustainable Environment and Natural Resources Management, promoting Peace, Security and Inclusive Societies, enhancing Gender Equality and Empowerment of women and strengthening organizational sustainability.

 

This Position

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Programs Manager to be responsible for overall programs designs, management, fundraising, and strategic leadership initiatives to support the organization’s strategic direction, as well as creating and managing long term goals. You will also be in charge of developing budgets and operating plans for programs and writing program funding proposals.

In order to be successful in this role, you will have the following expertise and experience.

 

  1. A Bachelor’s Degree in Social Sciences or related discipline.
  2. At least 3 years working experience in senior management/strategic position with an NGO or other relevant institution.
  3. Experience in Project Monitoring and Evaluation, capacity building, training and organizational capacity assessment. Regional experience is a plus.
  4. Experience working on peace building, conflict and governance programmes.
  5. Experience working with diverse project stakeholders such as private sector, government, youth and women groups.
  6. Strong analytical and report writing skills.
  7. Demonstrated ability to successfully initiate and maintain positive relationships with local NGOs is vital to effective performance.
  8. Expertise with tools and innovations in Information Communication and Technologies. Proficiency in English language oral and writing skills is also required.
  9. Ability to adjust and work in dynamic and complex environment/situations.
  10. Proven experience managing a team.
  11. Experience using computers for a variety of tasks.
  12. Understanding of project management.

Your key responsibilities will be as follows:

  1. Strategic leadership and oversight for all programs and activities in accordance with the mission and goals of the organization.
  2. Resource mobilization to guarantee uninterrupted delivery of services.
  3. Managing a team with a diverse array of talents and responsibilities.
  4. Ensuring goals are met in areas including donor/constituency satisfaction, safety, quality, and team member performance.
  5. Support and ensure compliance of technical reports and format, data management, and financial reporting.
  6. Support compliance to project delivery, organizing meetings, tracking, and documentation.
  7. Ensure quality and accurateness in service provision, work with procurement in contracting process, and other procurements, track and flag for action audit queries
  8. Oversight of knowledge management and dissemination of project outputs and technical products.
  9. Coordinate and develop regular operational and financial reports, against targets and deliverables in the results framework, according to format and template agreed by donors
  10. Supervise and provide support in the development of team members’ professional skills and conduct staff reviews as appropriate
  11. Promote accountability, communicate expectations and provide constructive feedback informally and formally via regular one on ones and performance reviews.
  12. Hire, orient, and lead team members as necessary.
  13. As the Programs Manager, you will deputize the Executive Director as necessary
