JOB SUMMARY:
Kenya Community Support Centre (KECOSCE) is a Kenyan National NGO active in the Coast, Northern Kenya and Nairobi regions of Kenya. KECOSCE has its main offices in Mombasa.

KECOSCE is seeking to recruit a Monitoring and Evaluation officer to join its team of self driven staff and contribute to the achievement of the organization’s vision.

Summary of Key Functions: Under the overall guidance of Executive Director and direct supervision of the Programs Coordinator the officer will be responsible for.

  • Development and implementation of result-based monitoring, evaluation and reporting system with detailed guideline for its implementation;
  • Leadership role in conducting outcome/impact and evaluation studies;
  • Planning, Management, Reporting and data analysis together with developing and implementing comprehensive M&E Strategy for the Project;
  • Development and strengthening institutional monitoring, inspection and evaluation procedures in KECOSCE
  • Facilitation of knowledge building and knowledge sharing in the area of monitoring and evaluation

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Develop and implement an effective result based M&E system including tools and technique in collaboration with the donors and program staff and ensure that M&E systems and procedures are well-integrated with donor reporting systems and procedures;
  2. Generate convincing evidence of projects impact for policy makers, donors, government officials and other stakeholders;
  3. Monitor all project activities, expenditures and progress towards achieving the project outputs;
  4. Suggest strategies to the Project Management for improving the efficiency and effectiveness of the project by identifying bottlenecks in completing project activities and developing plans to minimize or eliminate such bottlenecks;
  5. Prepare quality monitoring and evaluation report highlighting achievements and share with staffs and donors
  6. Any other responsibilities as requested by the Management
  7. Work as a focal person for the Monitoring and Evaluation component, identify delivery issues of the component and ensure effective coordination of the component activities for quality and consistency;
  8. Coordinate, organize, facilitate different research/evaluation (performance evaluation, baseline, mid-term evaluation, final evaluation, etc) using both qualitative and quantitative methods
  9. Prepare Key Result Reports, Annual Result Reports, Quarterly & Annual Progress and M&E report of the projects in line with donor requirements
  10. Organize and facilitate M&E trainings and workshops including preparation of concept note and development of training materials, training schedule, etc; monitoring of VC performance;
  11. Identification and documentation of success stories, achievements, lessons learned and document recommendations to be integrated into broader knowledge management efforts.
  12. Compile and disseminate information extracted from all available information management systems to Project Management and other stakeholders as needed

  • In-depth knowledge on MIS, M&E and development issues

Required Skills and Experience

Education: University Degree preferably in Business Administration, Economics, statistics or related field.

Experience:

  • At least 2 years of experience in the relevant field.
  • Experience in design and implementation of M&E/MIS in development projects implemented by NGOs
  • Experience in designing tools and strategies for data collection, analysis and production of reports;
  • Proven ICT skills, especially in the development of MIS software using database software;
  • Expertise in analyzing data using statistical software;
  • Strong training & facilitation skills.
  • Language Requirements: Fluency in written and spoken Kiswahili and English.
  • Quantitative and qualitative analytical skills
  • Must have complete computer operation skills including specialist analytical softwares.
