PROJECT TITLE: STRENGTHENING CIVIL SOCIETY VOICES IN POLICY-MAKING THROUGH THE PROMOTION OF INCLUSIVE PLATFORMS FOR PUBLIC PARTICIPATION IN KILIFI COUNTY- KENYA.
PROJECT THEMATIC AREA: CIVIL SOCIETY VOICE IN POLICY-MAKING STRENGTHENED

1.  INTRODUCTION:

Kenya Community Support Centre (KECOSCE) has signed an agreement with the Amkeni Wakenya to implement this Strengthening Civic Society Voices in Policy-Making through the Promotion of Inclusive Platforms for Public Participation in Kilifi County- Kenya. AmkeniWakenya (hereinafter Amkeni) is a United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) project/facility that was established in 2008 to promote democratic governance through civil society strengthening in Kenya).
The project is part of Amkeni Wakenya/UNDP and the Embassy of Kingdom of Netherland’s (ENK) broader program on “Strengthening Civic Space for Realization of Sustainable Development Goals-SDGs in Kenya” This project seeks to strengthen the role of civil society in making meaningful contributions towards achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly promoting the ability of CSOs in holding governments and the private sector accountable for the realization of SDGs. The project principally contributes to the realization of SDG 16 which promotes peaceful and inclusive societies for sustainable development, with a focus on access to justice, citizen participation, and adoption of non-discriminatory laws.

2. THIS CALL:

KECOSCE is inviting interested and eligible individuals/institutions to facilitate in the mapping exercise of civil society organizations in Kilifi County. The Objective of the assignment is to map current and existing Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) and Community Based Organizations (CBOs) working on governance, public participation and budget tracking in Kilifi County. The Mapping shall determine, among others, the geographical locations of organizations, their structure and ongoing programs being implemented by them.

The information collected from the mapping will inform the development of the CSO and CBO database and website in Kilifi. The outputs from this exercise include a matrix with a database and Geographic Information System (GIS) maps with details of mapped organizations, their locations, areas of specialization and programming.
This exercise will further inform capacities/experiences of the CSOs in engaging with county government decision making and public services. The report shall lead to a comprehensive process to profile and build the capacity of the CSOs. It will also help CSOs to reposition themselves as a strong partner with government and other relevant stakeholders and promoting quality services delivery by the county and national government to the people of Kilifi.

3. DELIBERABLES

  1. File containing CSOs/CBOs in each of the sub-counties.
  2. A file created for each organization. The file contains: registration certificate, management structure and areas of programming profile.
  3. A file with Organizational Matrix and Profile with full organizational details including contact persons, email and physical addresses, street address, website;
