COMMUNITY COMMUNICATION AND ENGAGEMENT TO COUNTER RADICALIZATION AND VIOLENT EXTREMISM

This project aims at empowering Coast communities to prevent and contest radicalisation in the Coast of Kenya. The project promotes communication and engagement by different community groups like the youth, students, women, key religious leaders like the Imams and pastors and security agencies to create awareness about the negative impact of radicalisation, build skills to counter and contest the violent ideology at family, schools and public spaces and to promote partnership with security agencies change perceptions and increase collaboration to stop terrorists from using coast as a fertile ground for their operations and to make the Coast safe from terrorism and radicalisation. The projects uses capacity building, creation of radicalisation awareness networks, peer education, guiding and counseling, dialogues, debates and monitoring as mechanisms to achieve its purpose in Mombasa, Kwale, Malindi and Lamu
