1. Background
Kenya Community Support Centre (KECOSCE) is a Kenyan Public Benefit Organization based in the Coast region of Kenya. KECOSCE’s vision is a just, secure and progressive society. This is achieved through our strategic pillars comprising, Inclusive Governance and Service delivery, Poverty Alleviation and Climate Resilience, fostering peaceful and Cohesive Societies, Health Water and Sanitization and Strengthening organizational sustainability. KECOSCE is implementing the IMARISHA Project, which seeks to strengthen the meaningful participation and leadership of women in peacebuilding, conflict prevention, mediation, and community security processes in the coastal counties of Kenya. The project is funded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark in Nairobi through Act, Change and Transform (ACT!!)
2. Purpose of the Consultancy
KECOSCE seeks to engage a qualified institution or team of experts to design and deliver a competency-based mediation training programme leading to recognized certification for selected grassroots women peace leaders. The purpose of this consultancy is to equip grassroots women leaders with practical mediation knowledge, skills, and competencies through an internationally or nationally recognized mediation training programme that leads to certification.
The consultant will be expected to deliver an interactive, practical, and context-sensitive training that enables participants to effectively mediate community conflicts, facilitate dialogue processes, and support sustainable peacebuilding initiatives.
3. Scope of Work
a. The consultant shall:
- Have a mastery of Kiswahili language
- Deliver the certified mediation training.
- Facilitate practical exercises and mediation simulations.
- Conduct participant assessments.
- Administer certification examinations where applicable.
- Mentor participants throughout the learning process.
4. Expected Deliverables

- Training Delivery
- Practical Mediation Simulations
- Participant Assessments
- Certification of Successful Participants
- Final Consultancy Report
5. Target Participants
Approximately 25 grassroots women leaders drawn from community peace structures, women’s organizations, local governance structures, faith-based organizations, youth groups, community policing initiatives, and civil society organizations in the project implementation counties.
