Ganda ward has a population of 32,562 people, however, the majority of Youth, Women, and PWDs who have attained the age of 18 years lack National identity cards, women and youth for a long time failed to see the importance of acquiring ID cards, this is owing to the narratives that ID card brings more responsibilities such as payments of tax and that you can be charged in the court of law for an any offense committed as long as you have acquired an identity card, these narratives were spread out specifically by the organized juvenile gangs to rally other youth to refrain from these important services, however, ID card remain an important document that enable one to register for Government services, enjoy financial opportunities, participate in voting and so forth.
KECOSCE organized civic education and sensitization forums targeting women and Youth on the mass acquisition of identity cards, these forums were attended by the registrar of persons and other local leaders where over 300 community champions were sensitized and rallied to cascade the information to others, the sessions were important to debunk the existing narratives and assert the realities that come when one acquire the ID card, As a result of the civic education conducted, over 600 Youth, Women and PWDs have come out to register for identity card, through ECCES program, KECOSCE will target to support registrar of persons to register at least 1000 person to acquire identity cards.
