ROUND 2 CALL FOR PROPOSALS
DEADLINE FOR APPLICATION IS MONDAY 26TH FEBRUARY, 2024 AT 2:30P.M.
Introduction: Kenya Community Support Centre (KECOSCE), (www.kecosce.org) has established a small grants program to support local level community interventions aimed at “Stimulating local development through support to local actions”. The projects are to be implemented in 4 counties of Kilifi, Kwale, Mombasa and Tana River Counties.
The KECOSCE small Grants Program (K-grants) Grant Program works to support innovative community development initiatives and breakthrough solutions that focus on
- Improved Food and Nutrition Security
- Strengthened Community Nature Based Enterprises
- Enhanced Community Contribution to Climate Change Actions
KECOSCE will support ten (10) community led organizations on a quarterly basis from the select counties in line with the above categories.
Selected projects will be funded with the maximum amount awarded determined by the Board of Directors. Submitted projects must meet our pre-established criteria. The deadline for submission of applications is on or before 26th February 2024 at 2:30 p.m EAT
Guidelines
- Local Community grants range from Kshs. 40,000.00 to a maximum of Kshs.150,000.00
- Projects should run for between six months to one year.
- Eligible nonprofit organizations must operate on the local level and directly benefit the service area where the project will directly benefit the community.

Who can apply
The program welcomes applications from both registered organizations and non-registered organization. Non-registered grant recipients will be funded through a registered partner organization. Eligibility Checklist
Organizations applying must meet one of following criteria:
- The submission deadline has been respected:
- Requested documents are attached to the application;
- The proposal meets the rest of the eligibility criteria as mentioned in section 2 above.
- An organization must be registered entities for non-registered entities, they will be funded through a registered organization.
- All applying organizations must be based in the locality where they intend to implement their proposed action.
- Submission of an application does not guarantee funding.
- The organization must prove capability for financial and narrative reporting on their proposed action.
- Individuals or Private entrepreneurs are not eligible to apply.

Selection Process
The fundamental principle of KECOSCE’s small grant program is that the entire process, from program design to the selection of partner organizations will be guided by a Select Committee of Advisors (SCA) selected by the board of directors. Therefore, the final decision regarding who to be supported will be determined by the committee. The Committee members shall be representative of different geographies covering by this program call, bringing diverse backgrounds and experiences. The advisors will play a pivotal role in upholding a fair and unbiased selection process. The following process will be followed.
Step one: Eligibility evaluation (by KECOSCE MANAGEMENT)
- Administrative check: our team will conduct an initial administrative check to ensure that your application aligns with the geographic scope, the guidelines and eligibility criteria (outlined in this call)
- Verification of the administrative check with the assistance of the panel members, we will verify the administrative check before proceeding with the decision-making process
Step two: Technical assessment of full project proposals by the Select Committee of Advisors
- The technical assessment will be done by the select Committee of Advisors
- The SCA reviews the proposal and either accepts it conditionally or rejects it. Proposals that are conditionally accepted are subjected to a due diligence process, which includes a field visit.
- After the due diligence is conducted, the SCA recommends revisions to the proposals to enhance suitability and robustness. Upon receipt of the revised proposal, the SCA makes a final decision on the organizations to be awarded the grant.
- The selected organizations will be contacted to communicate the decision, the finalists will be asked to provide due diligence information and documents for review
- After the finalists pass the due diligence check, they will be informed of the details of the payment process.
- The start of grants is estimated to be March 2024 and the duration will be six months to one year from start date.
