HE expansion and improvement of the Mombasa Airport Road will be launched in a few months, Moi International Airport acting operations manager has said.Jedi Solitei said contractors are working on the final designs of the road.The road construction is being undertaken by the Kenya National Highway Authority and a Chinese company, China Wu Yi.TradeMark East Africa has mobilised about $50 million (Sh4.8 billion) to support the road construction and the Mombasa port infrastructure facilities improvement programme.
Speaking to journalists in her office last week, Solitei said the new road will be a dual-carriageway with four lanes on each side.China Wu Yi has set up a base at the entrance of the Moi International Airport.“We are now optimistic the congestion on the Airport Road will come to an end,” Solitei said.ravellers have on several occasions missed their flights at the Mombasa airport because of the heavy traffic snarl-up on the road.
